Welcome to CrypticCrab! By downloading or using the app, you're agreeing to these terms. We've tried to write them in plain English — no legal jargon, just a straightforward explanation of how things work.

If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the app. If you have questions about anything here, drop us a line at support@crypticcrab.xyz.

CrypticCrab is designed for personal, non-commercial use. It's an educational app for learning how to solve cryptic crosswords — the kind you find in The Guardian, The Times, and other newspapers.

You're welcome to use it to learn, practice, and enjoy cryptic crosswords. Please don't use the app in ways that would harm other users or the service itself.

Everything in CrypticCrab — the lessons, clue data, explanations, illustrations, and the crab character himself — belongs to CrypticCrab. You're welcome to use the app for your own learning, but please don't reproduce or redistribute the content without permission.

If you'd like to use something from the app (for example, in a blog post or classroom), just ask — we're usually happy to say yes.

CrypticCrab offers optional subscriptions to unlock additional content. All purchases are handled entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit — we never see or store your payment details.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple ID. Apple's standard End User License Agreement applies to all purchases made through the App Store.

CrypticCrab works with a small number of third-party services to deliver features:

• Apple Game Center — powers leaderboards and achievements, and operates under Apple's own terms of service.
• Apple StoreKit — handles all in-app purchases and subscriptions, also governed by Apple's terms.
• Cloudflare — delivers the daily cryptic clue via a Cloudflare Worker, and operates under Cloudflare's terms of service.

Each of these services has its own terms and privacy policies, which apply independently of ours.

CrypticCrab is provided "as is." We do our best to keep the app running smoothly, but we can't guarantee it will always be error-free or available without interruption. We're not liable for any data loss or service interruptions.

The lessons and clue explanations in the app are educational content — they're not professional advice of any kind. Use your own judgment when applying anything you learn.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you continue using CrypticCrab after a change, that counts as acceptance of the updated terms.

We'll try to keep any changes reasonable and only make them when there's a genuine reason to do so.
